Regional Aquaculture Health Program
The disease detection systems in shrimp and fish were strengthened by training technicians from the region's Ministries and Secretariats of Agriculture and Livestock in pathology, immunology, epidemiological surveillance, and laboratory diagnosis.
With the support of OSPESCA, documents on endemic diseases of fish, mollusks, and transboundary diseases of shrimp were developed. This was carried out from 2015 to 2017.
With the support of FAO, under the FAO TCP/INT/3502 Agreement "Reduction and Management of the Risk of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND) in Cultured Shrimp," laboratory diagnostic areas and contingency plans were strengthened in case of the possible appearance of the disease in the countries.
