La actividad se desarroll\u00f3 el 23 de enero de 2020 en Las Cruces, Pet\u00e9n, Guatemala. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante la actividad, Peralta expuso sobre la Norma de Inocuidad de los productos agr\u00edcolas frescos \u2013que es parte de la Ley de Modernizaci\u00f3n de la Inocuidad de los Alimentos de los Estados Unidos (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ift.org\/policy-and-advocacy\/policy-developments\/food-safety-modernization-act?gclid=Cj0KCQiApt_xBRDxARIsAAMUMu_t7XxyLjJqeodb0651fV_SP2VBojyklEhQe91rX_CFbgVImZ6Bl_0aAgm5EALw_wcB\">FSMA<\/a>, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s)\u2013 enfatizando en los est\u00e1ndares de producci\u00f3n, cosecha y manejo de frutas y verduras; para prevenir la contaminaci\u00f3n microbiana y reducir las enfermedades transmitidas por los alimentos asociadas a los productos frescos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estos est\u00e1ndares se basan sobre un cimiento de Buenas Pr\u00e1cticas Agr\u00edcolas (BPA) que incluyen salud, higiene y capacitaci\u00f3n de los trabajadores; agua de uso agr\u00edcola para utilizarse tanto en la producci\u00f3n como en la postcosecha; mejoradores biol\u00f3gicos de suelo; fauna silvestre y animales dom\u00e9sticos; y equipo, herramientas, edificios y saneamiento. Adem\u00e1s, Peralta ahond\u00f3 en las diferencias con respecto al Reglamento de Controles Preventivos de la Ley FSMA. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En el marco de la actividad, los productores solicitaron la elaboraci\u00f3n de un protocolo para manejo de post-cosecha para papaya y capacitaci\u00f3n en la prevenci\u00f3n de los peligros microbiol\u00f3gicos con \u00e9nfasis en Salmonella. De acuerdo con cifras de Organismos Internacionales, Guatemala es el 10\u00ba productor de papayas a nivel mundial con una cosecha anual aproximada de 206,500 toneladas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pet\u00e9n es uno de los departamentos con mayor producci\u00f3n de papaya en Guatemala. El \u00e1rea est\u00e1 libre de la mosca del Mediterr\u00e1neo (MOSCAMED), lo que permite mantener la exportaci\u00f3n a mercados internacionales.
