GUATEMALA<\/h2>\n

OIRSA began its collaborative work with the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA) in Guatemala in 1953. Since then, the organization has contributed to the prevention, control, and eradication of pests and diseases with significant impacts on the country's agricultural and livestock health, such as Foot-and-Mouth Disease, High Pathogenic Avian Influenza, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, and the Central American locust (Schistocerca piceifrons piceifrons<\/em>) and fruit flies, among other pests relevant to Guatemalan agricultural and livestock health.<\/p>\n

Currently, OIRSA, in technical and participatory support with MAGA, is involved in programs and projects of great importance for the country's economic development and food security. Some of these programs include the control of Huanglongbing (HLB) in citrus, the Salivary Bug (Aeneolamia spp), control of the flying locust, and control and eradication of Classical Swine Fever. In the latter case, OIRSA has provided technical assistance and financial support (regional funds) for disease control and eradication; Bovine Traceability, and Regulation of veterinary drugs, among others.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it manages and operates 11 quarantine treatment stations located at airports, land borders, and seaports, which are part of the Servicio Internacional de Tratamientos Cuarentenarios (SITC)<\/a>, Similarly, by delegation from the MAGA, it administers the Servicio de Protecci\u00f3n Agropecuaria (SEPA).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
